Kendall Hughes successfully defended her Honors thesis this December on the electrophysiological recordings from the pectinal nerve and brain upon tactile stimulation of the pectines.
Jonna received a UROP funding award for her continuing work on the specific activity of P. utahensis when exposed to varying wavelengths of light. She plans to use this funding for equipment related to improving her experiment.
Nina was accepted into medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, WA. We wish Nina good luck on her new adventure!
Doug and 3 undergraduate students (Nina, Max and Kendall) in the lab presented their work at the annual meeting of the American Arachnology Society meeting in Mexico. All three did very well, and lots of positive feedback for our work was received.
Both Nina and Kendall won awards at the annual AAS meeting in Mexico last month. Nina won the best poster award among students and Kendall Hughes was runner up for the the best oral presentation among students.
Our lab had three presentations at the 2017 Undergraduate Research Day. Kendall also won an Honors College Award for Distinction in Undergraduate Research for her presentation! Congratulations!!!
Undergraduate Honors students in the lab, Matt Keyzer and Conner Howard were awarded UROP funding for their undergraduate Honors thesis projects last Fall and this Spring respectively. Congratulations to the both of them on their successful proposals. On to research now.
